Lund City Hall won

Christensen & Co Architects were announced winners of a competition for a new city Council building in Lund, Sweden. First phase of the building totaling 23000 mē, is due to open in 2012. See the project here.

Green Lighthouse nominated for "Great Arne"

Architects' Association of Denmark are due to announce this year’s winner of the prestigious award: the "Great Arne Award", named after the famous Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. Green Lighthouse are among the 4 nominees along with "The Mountain" by BIG, "Munkegård School" by Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter and Danish Radio’s Concert Hall by Ateliers Jean Nouvel.

COP15 - NYs mayor visits Green Lighthouse

New York's mayor, Michael Bloomberg, who is behind many green initiatives in his city, was given a guided tour of Green Lighthouse by Michael Christensen. The mayor commended the building as a great example of real solutions on the climate issues.

COP15 - CCO in live talkshow

X-mas is going to be busy at CCO after being prequalified to compete for a new college building in Roskilde and a research facility at the Technical University of Denmark. On top of this, we're already at full speed preparing our entry for the Aarhus School of Engineering against BIG, Henning Larsen, Dorthe Mandrup, CF Moller, Arkitema, Schmidt Hammer & Lassen and Lundgaard & Tranberg Architects.


CCO proposes "Park by the Lakes"

The Park by the Lakes is a green vision for the lakes in Copenhagen which completely removes all car traffic along the lakes and reduces car traffic into central Copenhagen. While doing so it creates an amazing green strip on the sunny side of the famous lakes.

Denmark's first carbon neutral public building received The Confederation of Danish Industry's attractive "Building Material - Innovation Price". The building was designed to maximize energy saving technologies without compromising architectural quality.

Climate Friendly nursery competition won

Christensen & Co architects has just won yet another groundbreaking green project, this time in collaboration with Hellerup Byg Construction and Rambøll Engineers. Due to architectural design and the range of green technologies the building will in fact produce more energy than it uses.

CCO prequalified for large competition

In a consortium with Phil & Son, Kjaer & Richter, Marianne Levinsen and Alectia Engineering CCO architects has been chosen to compete for a large a prestigious academy of engineering in Aarhus, Denmark. The other teams to compete include: Henning Larsen's Architects, Schmidt Hammer Lassen, Arkitema and CFMøller.

Road and Bridge Museum competition won

Christensen & Co Architects in collaboration with Ramboll Engineering and Hellerup Byg Contractors has just won the Danish Road and Bridge Museum. The new, 500 m² large museum is scheduled for opening summer 2010 and will exhibit historical facts and recent research of Danish Roads and Bridges.

New City Hall in Lund, Sweden

CCO Architects have been shortlisted for the international competition for a prestigious new City Hall in Lund in Sweden among 68 other applicants. Along with CCO Danish 3XN Architects, Tony Fretton Architects and Swedish Lund & Valentin arkitektur and FOJAB Arkitekter with Malmström & Edström Arkitektkontor are invited.


Green Lighthouse on Sustainable Communities

The carbon neutral faculty building Green Lighthouse is a part of the exhibition Building Sustainable Communities, which is currently on display en Abu Dhabi. The next stops will be in Brants Klædefabrik in Denmark and New York.


CCO to compete for holiday and conference center

We have just been invited to compete for a new holiday and conference center at Røsnes in Denmark. The scheme which is proposed by the danish developer MTH, is situated on a fantastic sloping site overlooking to the sea. Friis & Moltke and Nathan Romero Architects are amoung the other invitees.

CCO to compete for hospital building in Stockholm

CCO is in cooparation with Arkitema Architects, Incoord and WSP short listed to compete for yet another new hospital building. The building, which will become a wing to the existing Södersjukhuset in Stockholm, will include birth centre, emergency reception and surgical wards. The other competitors for the projects are CF Moller, Johan Celsing, Link and BSK.


CCO on display in Prague, Moscow and New York

Following the successful exhibition in Champs Elysses in Paris CCO's work will now be on show in Prague. The exhibition which features pioneering sustainable architecture will then continue to Moscow in May and New York late summer.


CCO wins in Holland

An ambitious, sustainable masterplan ensured Christensen & Co Architects the 1st prize in an international competition for the Almere Costal Zone, a new urban development north of Amsterdam.

Competition for mixed-use development

Christensen & Co Architects have been shortlisted with four other offices in the competition for a large, mixed-use development in central Copenhagen. The other shortlisted offices are Dissing&Weitling, Kim Utzon, Vilhelm Lauritzen and Schmidt/Hammer/Lassen.


CCO on display in Paris

Christensen & Co Architects are among a select group of Danish practices to present their work at an exhibition arranged by the Danish Embassy and "Maison du Danemark" in Paris. The exhitbition serves both as a cultural exchange but also as a display of Danish pioneers within responsible and sustainable architecture. In this area CCO sets a particularly high standard with the Green Light House project in Copenhagen and the sustainable masterplan proposal for Almere Strand in Holland.

CCO on display in Stockholm

Along with three other Danish architect practices, CCO was selected by the Danish Embassy, for a event to promote Danish architects designing and building in Sweden. CCO has already a number of projects in Sweden; most notably the Novum BioCity project, a bio-medical research facility for the Karoniska Institute in Stockholm. See the project here.


CCO designs new cruiseship-terminal for Copenhagen

In collabarotation with CPH City & Port Development CCO has designed a new cruiseship terminal area as a part of the Nordhavn piers in the Northern part of Copenhagen. The project consists of landscape design of the 1.1 km pier and the design of 3 new terminal tensile constructions. See the project here.


First stage in Bio medical centre completed

CCO architects have just submitted first outline design for BioCity, a bio-medical research facility for the Karoniska Institute by Karolinska University Hospital by Stockholm. The building is arround 70.000 m2 with a budget close to 190 million euros. See the project here.

Groundbreaking ceremony for Green Lighthouse

Improved study space at University of Copenhagen

CCO architects have produced at catalogue of specific suggestions of improved use of existing spaces at University of Copenhagen. The proposals were developed in close collaboration with the university's Facility Management and based on a series of fieldtrips and workshops with 40 university students. See the project here.


CCO moves in to new studio

Almost exactly two yearsin business CCO is now relocating to larger premises. The new office will be situated in Nørrebro, an exciting up-and-coming area of Copenhagen. The new premises are on the top floor of an old industrial building and will provide plenty of daylight and room for expansion.

CCO designs spiral parking garage

Commissioned by Ørestand Parking Ltd CCO has designed a parking structure for the Ørestad City. The distinctive building is one continuous helix spiralling up to a total height of 8 floors. When descending the building the drivers can admire a suspended sculpture at the core of the day-lit atrium. See the project here.


CCO wins international competition

CCO has won yet another prestigious international competition. This time it is the new university campus in Stockholm which includes approx. 60,000 m2. The proposal, which features a series of distinctive cylindrical buildings, will provide the university with a recognisable profile and create an inspiring, academic environment that focuses on cross disciplinary collaboration.

CCO has just expandet the team with yet another architect. Håkan Sandhagen leaves his position at Henning Larsen Architects, where he most recently were project architect on the new Congress centre and Concert hall in Uppsala, Sweden. Håkan has also experience from KHR architects with other large international projects such as the new airport in Stockholm.
