Project:Holiday Home, 100 m²
Type:Commission
Client name:Solvejg and Steen

On a unique site by Tranum preserved sand dune plantation in Northern Jutland, Denmark and located within a dense pine tree forest the house is situated as an integral part of the landscape. This area distinguishes itself by being a retreat for a great variety of wildlife –much of which is endangered.

Inspired by and in respect of the extremely diverse flora and fauna the house is designed as if folded out of the landscape creating the internal spaces underneath the grass covered roof. Eventually the green roof will be covered by a range of different types of heather and ling unique to the particular region. Terraces on the eastern and western elevation of the house utilises the morning and afternoon/evening sun and minimises the need for artificial lighting.
